The Government of India has been taking initiatives towards economic upliftment via a two-pronged approach, i.e., financial as well as skill enhancement. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana – Courses for skill development

  • Training for a short term: These courses and training programs are designed for a short term ranging between 150 and 300 hours to fit in the busy schedules.
  • Training through special projects: The component aims to impart training for special projects that do not fit in the standard framework.
  • Kaushal and Rozgar Mela: It encourages participation from across the nation to improve the accessibility of available opportunities.
  • Competency alignment via RPL: Individuals with any existing certification can take the benefit of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) module to fill in any knowledge gaps.
  • Placement guidelines: The components help guide a skilled worker towards a field with high demand.
  • Guidelines to monitor skill enhancement standards: It ensures the set standard for imparting skill training is maintained across various centres.
